Dream series in Travemünde with 9 victories. Mixed Team Nahid and Roland Gaebler won German Tornado Champs in tough sailing conditions
The 12 races over 4 days have forced us all. The Series started very softly and went stormy at the end. It was tactically very challenging and very stressful mental. The strong wind challenged all our fitness and technique. Some nearly capsizes and plugs were responsible for the extra adrenalin rush aside. It was the very best of highspeed Tornado Sailing since many weeks.
Besides that, we presented the Tornado Speedsailing in the “Sailing Arena Trave’ again in front of 10,000 spectators in a spectacular way. Unfortunately it was something a little wind, but allowed us to fly a hull in front of large audiences. But again, the simple format of Tornado Speedsailing shows sailing as close as possible to the spectators in a very spectacular way. Because the Tornado has such flexible rig and large sailing area, the boat can fly from 3 knots on.
We had 4 mixed Teams in the Top 10 ranking at the event. On all boats the womens were crewing and handle the mainsheet and kite up to 26 knots. We sailed 3 races in such tough conditions guesty winds and rough waves.
It was an excellent training for the upcoming World Championships, starting 21. August at Lake Biel in Switzerland.
We expect many international teams at the WC and the entire elite of European sailors. Lake Biel is also tactically very challenging and it is very difficult to beat the Swiss top teams on their home turf.

Unbelievable! And we have all been told by cat sailing royalty that a 16ft boat was the only way a girl could crew.
