Sadly Scott Anderson wasn´t pictured, but Landy and the other top were ‘on’.

I don´t know much about Scott Anderson only that he is an Aussie labeled ‘Grand Master Class’ for his age, showing the young guns how its done.

Edit , Info on Scott sent by Graeme Whitlock : ” He’s past 50. He won a bronze medal crewing with Chris Cairns on a Tornado at the ’84 Olympics in LA, he’s been sailing A’s a long time and always fast and he makes Fibrefoam masts and battens in Austria. He also published a book on catamaran racing around 20 years ago I think.

Scott is right now the most consistent sailor of the event with 1,2,5,1. He is riding an ‘ancient’ 2001 weapon, the Nikita designed by Nils Bunkenburg, the hidden design as I pointed once

Ben Moon is 3rd right now on a Nikita too, so we have Nikita, Scheurer,Nikita at the top 3.

Macca sent his mail some months ago to interview him, will try to get him this week.

Andrew Landenberger is currently 2nd, with a bullet and a 2nd place today. There was a impressive downwind run on the second leg of the 4th race, passing from behind (on the same line) two top racers that were leading after Anderson, (Edit: as someone pointed me out, no way to confirm if a puff wasn´t responsible, the only thing certain on the gps is the pass) it was like when you are on the highway cruising 130 and hot rod passes you at 180. You can check it on the gps.

Photo: Kristoffer West /Sailing Aarhus – Martin Fischer on the MayFly
Mayfly: Martin sent me his feedback. As I pointed yesterday after following live gps he was leading/keeping the pace with the top 10 on the first race of the championship with good winds, but after some drop in knots the innovative platform couldn’t keep the pace anymore.

Feedback from Fischer:

“In light winds we have a speed problem upwind. Below 12 knots of wind the daggerboards are simply too small. I went a bit too far with that. From 12 knots onwards it’s fine and from 14 knots onwards we are really quick. Yesterday Linkat the beginning of the first race the wind was quite strong and we were in the top 10 at the first mark, but then the wind dropped and we fell back. This is easy to fix – just longer boards – but of course we cannot fix it here, so we are hoping for wind, although the forecast is not very promising.”

So the Mayfly needs some tuning, after seeing also today that he was one of the fastest downwind with 16,6knots as per gps data, I’m sure an update to the daggers will find a balance in all conditions.

You can also follow his 1st race run on the TracTrac.
