F18 Dutch Nationals: September 4-5, 2010

“Dutch F18 Nationals with offshore breeze This year’s Dutch F18 Nationals take place on September 4 and 5 on the North Sea off the beach of Noordwijk, Netherlands. It is the final big regatta of the season. About fifty competitors are expected to line up for the Championship. According to the weather forecast, the offshore breeze is going to be light with higher temperatures. Larsen: ‘That means flat water and a shifty wind. I like there challenging conditions.”
Team Boskalis announces crew changes for the Dutch F18 Nationals 2010, to be sailed on September 4-5 in Noordwijk/Netherlands.
Gunnar Larsen (NED) joins forces with former member of the Dutch Olympic Match Racing squad Marja van Helden. Ferdinand van West (NED), bronze medalist at the F18 Worlds, lines up with former Olympic sailor Pim Nieuwenhuis (NED).
Christa van Helden and Wilco Stavenuiter will race the third Boskalis Nacra Infusion. ‘Andrew Macpherson will be coaching us on the water”, says Team Manager Gunnar Larsen.
His expectations about Nieuwenhuis and Van West are high: ‘They know each other pretty well. Although they haven’t done any practice together, they have done quite some sailing this season. Pim on the Extreme 40 and Ferdinand with Hugh Styles.”

Larsen sets himself and Marja van Helden a slightly higher goal; top five. ‘Marja made many hours with different helmsmen and she is strong at boat handling. I am also on top of the game and really well in the race mode.” In July, Larsen and Van Leeuwen finished fifth at the F18 Worlds in France.”
