C-Class Growth

Next Little Americas Cup will be held in 2013:
From Team Invictus website: “We have agreed with Steve and Fred that Team Invictus will host the next event in 2013 in the UK, the exact venue will be announced when we have done our research, we need to ensure that we put on as good a show as NYYC did this year.”

Argie top designer Juan K is expected to show with his C-Class at next event (He will ride with Santi Lange? as he is working at Juan’s design office) , also Morrelli&Melvin may show up , in fact all teams interested in the next Americas Cup that is supposed to be raced in 70 feet Winged Cats (still to be officially confirmed…) may attend to gain experience and knowhow, of course they all will start working on Wing tech asap after expected announce from the defender, BOR team-

–After a quick F18 scaled up C-Class sketch made in some minutes last week I put some more hours and made some decent initial render with a two section wing (actually they have 3) with Naca sections taken from a quite interesting paper by Alpha and Canaan designer, Steve Killing, also angular front beam with wing base fit… some design gurus are reading the blog, so better show some decent stuff.
Scaled up from RC F18 II wave piercer hulls, these C-Class machines have some slick looks, I checked the F18 cad again , and I thought, what a pig! Steep rocker taken from Steve Killing’s Alpha.
Final looks are similar to the new Nacra F20, no coincidence as the F20 is a scaled up Infusion.

Steve Clark’s Aethon is has a similiar looks from a scaled up Infusion too. Canadian Orion, is not a Wave piercer, that’s a submarine bow! No wonder they went back to Alpha’s roots (pics on both later)
Flat transom and back-front spray rails that I already used in the RC 16 (July 2007) and pretend to use in our next F18 design.
Next fine tuning: beam attachments and foil sections.

Check Sailing Anarchy forums where the C-Class members tell how they made their boats, no huge budget or super high infrastructure, but lots of hours and hard work: https://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?showtopic=112807&view=findpost&p=2981348
