Reg White, Tornado 1st Legend passes away while sailing, at 75

Reg White is the 1st Oylmpic Tornado Gold medalist in 1976 and also the 1st builder of the once Olympic Tornado, his company, Sail Craft UK was founded in 1960 and was heaviliy involved in the development of the T designed by Rodney March for the isaf trials to select the 1st Olympic cat.

Lately the White name was associated with Yves Loday , another Tornado gold medalist, at Swell Catamarans.

With Sail Craft and lately with Swell, Reg and his sons, Rob and Henry, have built some other famous cats like the Shark, Dart 16, Dart Hawk F18, Spitfire and their last rocket, the Shockwave F18.

For more than 40 years Reg was the living Tornado legend, sadly he had to see his beloved Tornado class being thrown out of the games after being the winner on the class 1st Olympic appearence-

I’m sure cats will return to the games, maybe the T or any other cat, and Reginald White will smile up there knowing his Olympic legacy is still alive.
