World qualifiying event for the French fleet. So it was a key championship for many, also one of the main F18 Nationals-
-51 boats, 3 Italian
-2 races the 13
-4 races the 14
-Wind condition 8 to 20 knts.
-No races on 15 and 16 because of too much wind.
The Sail Innovation team continues their tranining for the Worlds in Erquy in great shape.
4 Bullets a discarded 7 and a 2nd for an impressive win.
The Wildcat team took the podium, with Italian champs Bissario and Cesari in 4th.
Emmanuel Le Chapelier Francis Ferrari and the new C2 in good 5th place.
The “Petits Leopards”, Brieg Lecoublet and Loic Flocher, ended 24th, qualifying for the Worlds (26teams for France) with two top ten results and two dnf-
Excellent result for Team CNL too, Pierre Durand and Antoine Le Corre 14th in their C2.
-Report from Francis Ferrari AHPC C2/Sailfast.fr:
“We finished 5 th and really happy to be in the middle of some of the top 10 teams at last worlds.
Like last year Backes and Jarlegan are a step ahead from the fleet and took the win. (last year on Nacra, this on WC)
We really think C2 is so fast, and she help us a lot to be in the racing one on one with more experienced teams than us (a lot of the top 10 are old tornado sailor who made olympic preparation, or olympic games in the past) “
-Report from Alex Udin:
“Olivier and Arnaud did a really nice regatta, won 4 of the 6 races and finished with a strong lead with nearly a third of the point of the second crew Billy Besson and Jeremie Lagarrigue.
Francois Morvan and Matthieu Vandame who just entered the Sail Innovation team did a really nice 3rd place on a Shock Wave only 2 points behind Billy Besson.
It is a great success to have 2 crews on the podium, Gurvan Bomptemps ends at 10th place knowing he never raced before with his crew.
We are now looking forward to train in Erquy at the end of the month and then race Round Texel next month.”
