Eurocat 2010: Nacra F20 1st at the Raid – 20 mins ahead

From NacraSailing.com
Eurocat, (Carnac, France), After two hours and some thrithy minutes the Nacra F20 carbon of Peter Vink & Sven de Laaf took line honours at the long distance race in Eurocat. By almost being 20 minutes quicker than the second boat the F20 obliterated any other boat on the course. After a long winter of discussions and speculations, this was the first achievement within racing that shows the potential of this new “Weapon”. Unfortunately the boat was going to quickly over the course, even the photographer could not catch her in time. So we do not have any pics from the fact but the results speaks for it self. The start was in a light breeze of 7/8 knots and it started raining very hard. Before the first mark rounding it became dry again and the Nacra F20 did not had a great start and had to sail herself towards the front of the fleet. Within a couple of minutes she caught up with the front, overtook them and left them. All with all a very good result with some happy campers on the boat. Sven “It was ubelievalable how quick we were and what potential we still have in this new boat. I cannot wait to start racing in fleets against others, she sails like a dream. Getting line honours at such races is the coolest thing to do!” The F20 Carbon story continues at the NSR regatta from 19th of may. It has it’s own starting class to promote catsailing for the more heavy crews among us! Hope to see you there!!

It was really strange that Nacra didn´t promote their excellent F20 win at the Raid in her racing debut.
No pics available as they were too quick for even the ribs, kind of funny but it seems reasonable as the phorgraphers needed to capture the entire fleet. But at least one start pic should be available.
Lets wait for the Texel round, being locals there we might have more coverage about the F20.

Nacra as usual. All they do is build very good boats. Public Relations is not their business. Even if their is a interested crowd they don't care.
