Eurocat 2010: Final Day, Heemskerk-Tentij 1st on a Wildcat.

Ok, so you´d better start thinking again about which F18 you’ll buy next.
The answer is quite easy:
Wildcat or…. C2 or Infusion or Shockwave or….
In any of the currents designs you’ll be able to win if you are up to the challenge with your sailing skills.
Nevertheless statistics are part of the game, and in this Eurocat, the cold numbers said that Hobie Wildcat was king on the top ten.

Good to see Hobie back at the game, full trhottle and pushing hard to regain their dominance of the F18 Worlds once lost to Nacra…
But don´t discount Nacra team and Pete Melvin´s design yet, if you’ve been reading the blog for a while you can found a little gem I published before the 2009 Worlds, when everybody was talking about the new boats, and the Nacra team was left to oblivion,,,until Coen de Koning won at Knokke his 2nd championship in a row.

So up to now my published bets for 2010 F18 Worlds are:
-Brewin C2 (I must add Bundy now as at the time wasn´t confirmed and the C2 looks like a winner, Bundy too…jeje)
-Dark Horse: Sail Innovation Team on a Wildcat – Olivier Backes and Arnaud Arlegan

and as a final add Mischa Heemskerk and Bastian Tentij on their Wildcat…choice for a while now and before you make some obvious comments after Eurocat results, just check my 2009 Worlds bet

My F18 Worlds 2009 Bets were:
Styles-Van West/Infusion (ended 3rd)
Wilson-Lynch/Shockwave: (ended 2nd, tied on points for 1st)
Heemskerk-Tentij/Wildcat: Lost due to a final BFD (where they won) and pitch while leading on the 2nd last race.

In the F18 nothing is defined until the last race, so you may be fan of Nacra, Hobie, AHPC or whatever F18 team you may like, but you’ll have to wait for final results at Erquy to label them as “2010 F18 World Champions”
