Hobie NL Winter training: Top mark Roundings
By Mischa de Munck Then you wonder why dutchs have some of the best F18 crews, training is the only way, also a nice technique sailing one on one in Lasers for next week, read on:

“Today we had again an excellent training. 15 knots of wind and gusts up to 20 knots an ‘astounding’ temperature of 8 degrees!! A total of 18 boats showed up (the video says 17 boats).
The subject of the training was; ‘top mark roundings’
I placed a top and spreader mark were each boat passed every five minutes. doing this for an hour means a lot of top mark roundings. Then I anchored just below of the spreader mark and used my megafoon to coach them. The result and progression every team made was fantastic!!
Next week we are going to put al the catamaran sailors on Lasers to train against each other. This step (back) to the slower but faster tacking boat is to make the cat sailors able to train better on starts and shifts. So for an hour every sailor are going to do 5 minute races. With the fast tacking laser they shought be able to have fore control with positioning prior to the start. also its a good chance for the crews to do some helming.”
