F18 Aussie Nationals at Audi Week

Onsite Report sent by Grant Pellew
“Entry list attached with boats that are here and the crews that I know.
Good things to note: there are 4 women skippers (Cara, Maggie, Leanne & Katie) and 2 brand new designs (C2 & Edge) Tough day on the water with the wind blowing a good 25kts from the South for all 3 races with some solid 30kt gusts.
Plenty of boats capsizing duing the races including Greg Goodall.
Quite a few of us were just in survival mode just trying to stay upright.
The races were 3 laps and took about 40mins each.
Steve Brewin was on a new C2.
Both the C2 & Edge had good and bad races.
As this fantastic rule shows time and time again, it is the people on the boat that make them quick.
Tomorrow we have 4 races and the wind should be 15-20kts from the S-SE. With the breeze a little lighter we should have some better tactical racing. Looking forward to it. “
