Supercat: The Hidden fleet

Paraguay: Deep inside South America is the place where you can find a fleet of Supercats 15 and 17s. A client asked me to race with him at a lake in Paraguay where he has his Cruising RC 18 , (modified RC I F18 platform) so I took the 2 hour flight to Asunción on Friday night.

What a nice boat the Supercats are. Wing mast?? hey! this boats have been using them for years, extra volume, fine rudder foils and an overall good design. Of course they have some years but they really perform.
In 18knots and rough lake waters we managed to take a good lead at the windward mark, then a long flying reach and finally a downwind leg where I didn´t raise the Spi due to a non experienced crew. Nevertheless we out run the Supercats 17 and 15 , but they managed to offer a good fight considering.
I wonder why Supercats weren´t a huge competition to Hobie and Nacra years ago, they are really good boats!
