F18 Worlds Day 4: Results Plate
First timers from Argentina and only South American team, Cruz Smith and Ian Rodger, had a really good day of racing.
With a 7, 29 and a 13th place the crew went from 96 yesterday to 83 in the gral and 17th in the Plate group.
Argentina has recently created an F18 fleet from scratch where Cruz and Ian had few chances to train in numerous fleets.
The 1st day with light weather they finished 37 and 40, for a 75 overall, 2nd day with ocs for a 88 , 3rd day again with light weather for the rather heavy pair and a bad day with 47 and 57 place.
Short on making the gold fleet the argetinean team needed serious weather to get better results, and today they just got what they wanted, a little late though, 15/20knots and an incredible recovery for an inexperienced crew.
Their Laser racing history is quite large so for sure they can apply their knowledge, but cat racing is another sport and they managed to get a really good performance overall till now, even more thinking of their best results in heavy weather when the F18 gets more technical.
So cheers for these 1st timers at an F18 Worlds, they-ll bring back home all things learned to provide enormous feedback for the homeland fleet.
